Attendance & Absences
It is important for students to attend their classes. Advisors should encourage their advisees to review the syllabus for each of their courses at the beginning of the semester so that they know the specific expectations for class attendance and how minor absences are handled. Other types of absences can be referred to the student’s college assistant dean’s office (e.g., serious illnesses, mental health, hospitalization, medical or family emergencies, bereavement). Students should be referred to the University’s Dean of Students Office when they need to discontinue their studies because of medical reasons. The tiles below will explain in greater detail UD’s expectations and policies for attendance and absences.
